Moong Dal ka Halwa

Ingrideints :

1. Moong dal/green lentils -1cup
2. Ghee -1cup
3. Sugar -1cup
4. Milk -1 1/2 cup
5. Green cardamom -1pinch
6. Mawa-1tbsp
7. Saffron -few strings 
8. Almonds -12-14
9. Cashews -12-14



Method :

1. First wash the dal and soak for 5-6hrs. Then transfer moong dal/green lentils to mixi jar and pulse it to a fine paste. Don't add water.

2. It should be very fine in texture. When rubbed in between fingers it should feel like a thick paste.

3. Dissolve saffron in 1 tbsp of warm milk and keep aside. 

4. Heat ghee in a heavy bottom pan. Add dal and start sauteing.

5. Soon the dal will soak up all the ghee and become a thick sticky ball of dough, don't worry just keep working on it.

6. Now keep adding milk at regular intervals. 

7. Slowly dal will start to change color. From light yellow it will turn to a beautiful light brown color. Keep stirring, don't leave dal unattended otherwise it may stick to the bottom of the pan. 

8. Soon ghee will start to leave the side of the pan. 

9. Add mawa and keep stirring on a medium flame. 

10.Add sugar and keep stirring.

11.Now add saffron milk and sprinkle some chopped dry fruits and mix properly. 

Serve it.
